YAESU RADIO FACTOIDS
The Yaesu Model FT-817 is a Back-Packer QRP Transceiver. It is a extremely portable radio with Full HF, VHF and HF communications capability. It even has 88-108 Mhz Wide FM Receive. The FT-817 puts out a full 5 watts on all bands and is capable of ten watts with little modification. This is the ultimate portable HF radio.
HF RADIO ON A BUDGET? The Yaesu FT-840 is a solid performing radio for little money. What impressed me about the 840 was it's vast menu capability despite it's then six hundred dollar price tag. For an entry level HF rig, the 840's menu is quite impressive, allowing you to adjust equalization (tone) on both transmit and receive audio.
The Yaesu FT-1000 speaks for itself. At one time it's was many ham operator's dream radio. This radio has set the standard for Yaesu on HF.
The Yaesu FT-101 has to be the most popular Yaesu radio of all time. Enough said.
In my opinion, the FT-600 and the FT-102 are a couple of Yaesu's honorable mention radios. The FT-600 is a bit rare. The main reason I like the FT-600 is because it was designed and built to pass military and commercial requirements. i.e. military, aircraft and commercial use. It's tough and very stable. As far as the FT-102, it's the solid state tube model.
